Here is a list of frequently asked questions. We hope this helps. If we don’t have the answer you are looking for give us a call or send an email to info@gorideawave.com.au and we’ll get back to you ASAP.

Q: Do you have Public Liability Insurance?

A: Yes we have a $10,000,000 Public Liability Insurance which covers NSL for any injury which is caused by NSL or which can be shown the NSL was negligent. If an injury occurs which is an accident and NSL is not responsible then this will only be covered if you have your own travel insurance or personal accident insurance.

Q: Is learning to surf hard?

A: We have been instructing Learn to Surf for 22 years, we know the best ways to teach and the best equipment to use. Realistically 90% of all our clients stand up and ride the waves in their first lesson. It’s really easy and fun for people of all ages, shapes and sizes.

Q: How many lessons do I need?

A: We strongly recommend our 5 Lessons package. This will give you a great base to start off with and the confidence to get out there by yourself.

For those who are not quite sure if surfing is for them, we recommend starting off on 1 lesson first. Once you’re hooked and you want more, you can always upgrade for another 4 lessons to the 5 Lessons package.

Q: Is learning to surf safe?

A: At Noosa Surf Lessons we take pride in teaching surfing the safest possible way. All of our instructors are fully qualified surf instructors and trained surf lifesavers.

We use the best equipment available, soft foam Gboards and we give you a wetsuit or rash vest (rashie) to protect you from the elements.

We always have a first aid kit and mobile phone on the beach for every lesson.

Q: What age do you need to be?

A: As a general rule we suggest anyone over 8 years old, we find younger children don’t have the attention span to last 2 hours.

The eldest person we have taught was 81 years old, and yes they stood up! Come on give it a go! You are never too old!

Q: How fit do I need to be?

A: The way we teach surfing, you don’t have to be that fit at all! All our classes for beginners are taught in waist to chest depth water. So there is no need to paddle out into the deep water in your first lesson. We recommend anyone who is into surfing should lead a fit and healthy lifestyle.

Q: What if I’m not a strong swimmer?

A: Many of our customers are not very strong swimmers, if you let us know you are not that confident then we will keep a close eye on you! Remember all first lessons are in waist to chest deep water. You can always stay in closer to shore.

Q: Do you run Lessons all year round?

A: Yes we do!
